The Difference Between Paid and Free Web Hosting
There are many differences when we start talking Paid web hosting versus Free web hosting. In my opinion, the biggest differences are two main things: Ads and Disk Space/Bandwidth. Unfortunately, both of these factors are pretty important when it comes to putting your website online. Businesses for one, should not be using a free web hosting provider no matter what kind of website they are running. Displaying ads on a business related website looks extremely unprofessional. Aside from that, anyone who is hosting a script that costs money should not be using a free web hosting service. With the exception to small free scripts like WordPress, most free web hosting providers will not give you all the server functions needed for complex scripts to run properly. Knowing before hand what the server requirements are for your script can help you find which hosts match your websites needs before you even sign up!
Overall, there are many features that paid web hosting solutions offer which make it the better choice over free web hosting. Server features like FFmpeg and Fantastico are almost never available with a free web hosting provider. However, these types of extras come almost standard with any paid web host. Then there is also the area of statistics. Free web hosts may over a small and very basic statistics area, whereas a paid web host will often give you multiple statistic options like AwStats and Webalizer. If you’re trying to decide which is better, I would suggest paying for this service. It’s too important to rely on a free provider and the costs are usually minimal. You will get better support, better server features, more disk space and bandwidth, along with tons of other positive extras. For an average of $2-$5 per month on a basic web hosting package, it’s well worth the money!
